This is a new club which was formed at the beginning of May 2002.At the moment our website is under construction,and will be updated on a regular basis.Please feel free to bookmark this site enabling you to keep up with further additions to all pages.
****OUR FIRST MEETING****
Our first meeting was held on the 10th of june at the whitehouse hotel,abbey road barrow-in-furness,at 8pm and there will be a follow up meeting on the 24th of june and then on the last monday of every month thereafter.
We have a private room with a bar within the room and the hotel is centraly located with its own car park allowing easy access.
New members are always welcome from the complete novice to the experienced detectorist.

WHAT DO I DO IF I FIND TREASURE
What should I do if I find something that may be treasure?
You must report all finds of treasure to the coroner for the district in which they are found either:-
within 14 days after the day on which you made the find
-- or --
within 14 days after the day on which you realised that the find might be treasure (for example, as a result of having it identified)
The obligation to report finds applies to everyone, including archaeologists.

THE WORLD OF METAL DETECTING
Metal detecting is a wonderful hobby that can be enjoyed by anyone of any age, and where almost anything metalic can be found hidden away in the ground.Some of these items can lay buried just beneath the surface for thousands of years without being discovered.
Anything from a ring pull off a cold drinks can to the most wonderful of treasures from our distant past.You just never no what the next turn of soil may discover, and that is what makes this hobby so fascinating.
